Day of Remembrance
On average, three women in America die each day as a result of domestic violence. One in four women and one in 13 men will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. Each October, during Domestic Violence Awareness month, we recognize the victims who have died due to domestic violence during the previous year.
Domestic violence violates an individual's privacy, dignity and security due to the systematic use of control and abuse. This day provides an excellent opportunity for citizens to learn more about domestic violence issues and show support for the organizations and individuals who are providing advocacy services to domestic violence victims. Together, we can strive towards raising awareness to eliminate domestic violence in our community.
